Charcoal Rose
Stem I
Time dwindles as the petals fall from a rose of timeless sleep.
How long has it been since the sun has shone upon her weary limbs of light.
Forever the hour is dim and time is ticking to and fro in handless tocks
As from red to rust and wrinkled wear makes the charcoal stained tear drops
just as fair as her thorn less stem is bare.
But nothing so left on seconds spins the dials faster than slow and slower than fast;
For its all a creeping instant when seconds count the hours and moments count the lessons of the past.
Stem II
Nay does death bloom or life bud, cause in all her time the rose is never dead.
Lest the showers stop and minutes bear down to the last hour,
or when lustful hands deplume our fairest of reds.
She ages and withers, and withers and ages till the soil leaves the ground and leaves the rose only to lather in the cleansings of the sun.
Who glares down and burns bright her dulcet prayers
as they blacken and venture straight into the blight charcoal made ashes.
